Design of Inter Corridors and Economic Corridors in Odisha and Jharkhand for faster movement of freight Location: Jharkhand and Odisha P1175

The Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH), Government of India has decided to take up the Bharatmala Pariyojana connecting western and eastern parts of the country for faster movement of cargo and to reduce logistics cost. The Ministry has authorized the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) for the development of economic corridors, inter corridors, feeder routes and coastal road primarily to improve freight movement in the country.

The development of Sambalpur-Ranchi Economic Corridor (EC) in Jharkhand and Odisha out of the total 44 Economic Corridors and Keonjhar-Chandikhol Inter Corridor Route (ICR) in Odisha out of the total 66 Inter Corridors forms a part of this endeavor. The total length of the project road is 205.9km.

The work of Consultancy Services for preparation of DPR for development of Economic Corridors, Inter Corridors, Feeder Routes to improve the efficiency of freight movement in India under Bharatmala Pariyojna in Odisha & Jharkhand has been entrusted to BPC Consultant India Pvt. Ltd by AECOM. The roads connect extensive mineral rich regions of the country with prominent industrial hubs. Detailed Topographical Survey, Traffic Surveys and Material Investigation has been carried out for design of upgraded corridors.

Services & Solutions

  • 3D point cloud data capture using survey grade Mobile Mapping System, including standard feature extraction work using Terra solid software for 210 km National Highway, with LiDAR data coverage upto 30 m on either side of road centre line or upto the visual restriction, whichever lesser as per actual site conditions.
  • Aerial survey for complete coverage of Bypass areas and point cloud preparation by image matching using unmanned aerial vehicle.
  • Detail survey including shadow area, Ground control points (WGS - 84 SYSTEM) , Traversing, panoramic images, Trajectory analysis for deriving georeferenced point cloud.
  • Data process, filtering noise,cancellation, intensity analysis and preparation of vector drawing.
  • Inventory survey of pavement, road, Major / Minor bridges, culverts.
  • Subgrade and Material Survey and testing of existing quarry.

Main challenge was that we had to complete within 2 months because of Monsoon.
