LiDAR Technology Solution

Our focus is not only on the collection of high precision data but also on the underlying purpose and the requirement and semantic segmentation of point clouds. Deep learning, method enabled automated analysis and interpretation of LiDAR survey point cloud.

In keeping up with the latest technologies in surveying, BPC INDIA began researching and integrating Global Positioning Systems (GPS) related technologies, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Land Information System (LIS), Digital Photogrammetric System (DPWS) and LiDAR in its progress towards industry recognition as a complete survey solutions provider.3D Laser Scanning has become a standard surveying tool across numerous industries. Every day more and more companies are adopting this technology to achieve efficiency in their workflows. Application areas for 3D laser scanning has been increasing beyond conventional boundaries. Some of the application areas for 3D laser scanning are as follows

Mobile LiDAR

Mobile LiDAR is a process by which the LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging ) Machine is mounted on a movable vehicle which also consists of a navigation sensor ( DGPS ) and imaging sensor. This combined system provides georeferenced 3D point cloud data, digital maps, images and videos with an overall accuracy of about +/- 2 cm.

3D Mobile Lidar

Mobile LiDAR is an advanced mapping solution that incorporates the most advanced LiDAR sensors, cameras, and position/navigation/DGPS receivers to collect survey-grade 3D point cloud data quickly and accurately which can further be used for land mapping, cartography, exploration, construction work, spatial planning and forest management etc.

LiDAR -Light Detection And Ranging - is regarded as the most powerful technology for delivering highly accurate terrain data in a timely and cost-effective manner in plain as well as in remote hilly areas.

LiDAR is an active optical remote sensing system emitting laser pulses, which are partially reflected by the ground. The distance between the sensor and the ground surface is measured by multiplying the velocity of laser with the time elapsed between sending and receiving the laser pulse. LiDAR systems have the unique capability of measuring the three-dimensional structure of the Earth surface in great spatial detail. LiDAR mapping or '3D laser scanning' is basically a technology to make high-resolution maps, with applications in geodesy/geomatics, with terrestrial, airborne & mobile mapping methods.

By using LiDAR Technology three highly accurate products can be derived:

  • Digital Terrain Models (DTM)
  • Digital Surface Models (DSM)
  • 3D Point Clouds indicating the vertical structure of the natural as well as man-made substances.

Mobile LiDAR is an advanced mapping solution that incorporates the most advanced LiDAR sensors, cameras, and position/navigation/DGPS receivers to collect survey-grade 3D point cloud data quickly and accurately.

Engineering Grade Mobile LiDAR mapping is the process of collecting geospatial data from a mobile vehicle which center, typically fitted with a LiDAR remote sensing systems. Such systems are composed of an integrated array of time synchronized navigation sensors (survey grade DGPS) and imaging sensors mounted on a mobile platform. The primary output after pre-processing from such systems include; geo-referenced 3D point cloud data, digital maps, images, and videos. The overall accuracy of the data which can be easily achieved is about +/- 2 cm.

Airborne & Drone Lidar

Empowered by the modern engineering grade LiDAR we conduct LiDAR survey using a Drone that carries the LiDAR with it helping us in surveys in inaccessible areas as well as in plain land.

For creating fast and accurate terrain model the LiDAR is mounted on a Drone or Airborne moving medium for capturing 3 dimensional set of points or cloud points. A scanning laser combined with both GPS and inertial technology help in collecting cloud points. With the assistance of Airborne LiDAR and Drone we perform-Contours of Varying Intervals, Cut and fill modeling, Digital Elevation Models (DEM), Digital Terrain Models (DTM), Ortho-rectification in combination with imagery, Planimetric Mapping, Slope Mapping, Tree height analysis etc. Depending on project need we collect cloud points which are handled by our in-house experts to deliver an elegant and technically sound project to our clients.

3D Laser Scanner

We serve our clients digital three dimensional models from the real world object or environmental data obtained from our in house 3D Laser Scanner.

As per project demand we use 3D Laser scanner for constructing digital three dimensional model to provide shape of 3D objects. Laser scanner use may be either active or passive scanners. Active scanners emit light, ultrasound or X-ray and detect its reflection or radiation while passive scanners detect reflected ambient radiation. Beside creating 3D modelling Laser scanner is also capable of topographic scanning, non- destructive testing of structures and creating point cloud data of geometric surface.

DGPS & Total Station

As we always welcome new technology, we adopted modern DGPS ( Differential Global Positioning System ) for conducting a very accurate topographic survey in a time and cost-effective manner.

DGPS uses a network of fixed, ground-based reference stations to broadcast the difference between the positions indicated by the Gps satellite systems and the known fixed positions providing an accuracy of as less as 10 cm if can be handled properly. These stations broadcast the difference between the measured satellite pseudo ranges and actual (internally computed) pseudo ranges, and receiver stations may correct their pseudo ranges by the same amount. The digital correction signal is typically broadcasted locally over ground-based transmitters of shorter range.

Total Station is an electronic instrument that measures slant distances, horizontal and vertical angles and distances very accurately and data stored in this instrument provides output in X, Y, Z format i.e Northing, Easting and Elevation. This instrument once set up on the ground of known elevation and geographic coordinate can give the coordinates and elevations of other points on the ground within its range by the method of trigonometry and triangulation giving an accuracy of +/- 10mm to +/- 2mm.
